Summary

The Retail Banking Officer (RBO) is responsible for managing the Retail Banking function of the bank, including all aspects of customer service and branch profitability. This individual will have broad interaction with bank management, specifically branch managers, to coordinate and manage the retail function of the bank as well as extensive contact with customers, prospects and community members in each area. The RBO promotes our culture through coaching and staff motivation and is an ambassador of our bank’s mission, vision and values.

Responsibilities will include working with each branch to set and track branch performance to ensure proper operational controls, administrative and reporting procedures are in place at each branch office and lastly to develop branch staff to assure an effective, consistent, and efficient retail delivery channel is in place and is appropriate for the bank’s future growth. This will ensure an exceeds-expectations customer service experience is in place in each office. This position will additionally support the overall business development efforts that are primarily the responsibility of the bank’s loan and deposit production team.

Essential Functions/Competencies and Responsibilities:

  • Maintains a strong leadership presence, motivating staff and building commitment to the Bank’s priorities and direction.
  • Hires, trains, oversees and advises branch managers.
  • Coordinates effective staff coverage as needed. The RBO will be able to fulfill the principal responsibilities of the Branch Manager job description and may assist with and support staffing if needed.
  • Communicates information related to new policies, procedures, and promotions with branch locations.
  • Help branch managers identify new opportunities within their market and build more valuable and deeper relationships with current and potential customers.
  • Lead business development / sales and general administrative meetings on regular basis.
  • Oversee the financial performance of each retail branch location. View daily performance by branch.
  • Keep abreast of competitive lending and deposit rates and communicate with management and business development teams to adjust as warranted.
  • Work with Chief Banking Officer (CBO) to develop sales plans and strategies to maximize the overall deposit program, manage Cost of Funds, and promote the bank’s Treasury Management services.
  • Acts as communication liaison between branch locations and executive management.
  • Perform internal and external training sessions on product changes and enhancements.
  • As needed, develop reporting that may assist management and the business development team. This may include analyzing maturing CDs or other items that may affect overall deposit balances.
  • Identify geographic differences and focus on unique approaches based on segmentation, competition, and other factors.
  • Perform other duties that be assigned.

Work Environment/Physical Demands

The job operates in a professional office environment. This role routinely uses standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, filing cabinets and fax machines. Position Type/Expected Hours/Travel

This is a full-time position and hours of work, and days are subject to change based on workload and needs. This position will require travel to branch locations and to various meetings.

Experience and Education Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in banking, preferably retail banking.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in managing branches
  • Proven experience in Leading Teams and achieving business growth.

Required Skills/Abilities

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Thorough understanding of banking services, customers, procedures, and policies.
  • Excellent management as well as interpersonal skills
